I’ve always been curious about the history of a dense Eucalyptus grove located in Rustic Canyon, the wooded creekside neighborhood nestled between Santa Monica and Pacific Palisades where I grew up. I used to boil the leaves and inhale the vapor whenever I had a bad cold, and I remember the crisp scent of Eucalyptus leaves riding in the air on breezy days. This article tells the story of how these Australian imports came to dot the Southern California landscape. A fun read.
